How to
- Pick a studio. Mars, Venus or Space. Add Combat Mode for hip hop drums and 808, Experimental Mode for lush guitars. Jeff Shuford Mode turns the lights down to night vision.
- Set the harmony. The default is D minor: Dm9, Am7, Bbmaj7, C9. Change any root or chord type; each slot shows its right-hand notes.
- Compose, then play. New take keeps your settings and writes a new arrangement and sax line. Tap the timeline to jump.
- Shape the keys. Keep the Night Patrol Phaser rate very low so chords slowly shift, and set Blackout Filter 12 between 5.5 and 7 kHz to take off the sterile digital sparkle.
- Play the sax. Choose Shuford Satin Sax, play the keyboard, slide up for aftertouch, use the pitch and mod wheels. Overlapping notes glide legato.
- Groove. Cadence Swing 54 to 58 percent, snare drag 5 to 15 ms, and chord roll so notes arrive bottom to top. Verses stay kick and snare only.
- Voice. Choose Live mic for the Radio Op Talkbox, put on headphones and sing. Monitor my voice puts your dry lead in the center.
- Mix. Every channel has level, pan, mute, solo, high-pass, low-pass, three EQ bands and reverb and echo sends. Tap a channel name to open its editor.
- Surround. Switch on Shuford Surround Sound with headphones and drag channels around the stage map.
- Keep it. Export WAV + MIDI, or Record live mix to capture everything you play and sing.
FAQ
Why are there no presets?
This is an expert studio. Each mode sets a starting lineup of instruments; every sound after that is yours to shape.
Is anything copied?
No. Every sound is synthesized from code in your browser: no samples, recordings or factory patches. Chord progressions, swing and mixing techniques are craft anyone can use, and every instrument name here is original.
What does Shuford Surround Sound do?
It places each channel at an angle around your head with head-related filtering. Stereo channels split into two positions, so pads and harmonies wrap around you. Use headphones.
What is Shuford Crunch 12?
The drum sounds are resampled to 26.04 kHz and requantized to 12 bits, the grit of classic hardware samplers, before they reach the mixer.
Why no hi-hats in the verses?
Kick and snare alone leave a pocket for vocals. Hats arrive in the hook with a loose swing and a velocity wave.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. MIDI controllers need Chrome or Edge on a computer or Android, the microphone needs your permission, and Record live mix saves a WebM or MP4 file.
Is this treatment?
No. It is a creativity and relaxation tool. Keep volume moderate (60 percent for 60 minutes is a common guide), especially with tinnitus.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Your playing, voice and settings stay on your device.
